Overview

Connect a small wired event network with the TP-Link TL-SG105S. Its five Gigabit Ethernet ports provide a simple, unmanaged connection between compatible computers and network equipment without a configuration interface. The fanless metal enclosure suits a desk or technical position. Count every connection: a cable to your router or another switch uses one of the five ports, leaving four for local devices. This is a non-PoE switch, not a router or Wi-Fi access point; it does not provide internet access by itself.

Frequently asked questions

Does this switch provide Wi-Fi or faster internet?
No. It connects wired Ethernet devices. Internet access requires a separate router and working connection; actual speed is limited by the connection, cables and devices.
Can I connect five devices and a router?
Not directly: that requires six ports. With a router uplink, this five-port switch has room for four other wired devices. Without an uplink, all five ports can connect devices in an isolated local network.
Can it power cameras or access points through Ethernet?
No. This TL-SG105S does not supply Power over Ethernet. Devices that need PoE require an appropriate separate injector or PoE switch.
Can I use it with DJ or AV equipment?
Only when the specific equipment supports a compatible wired Ethernet network. An RJ45 socket alone does not establish protocol compatibility. Check the device manuals and test the complete setup; no universal DJ-Link, audio-network or lighting-network compatibility is promised.
What should I prepare before setup?
Plan a suitable external power adapter, mains access and an Ethernet cable for every connection. Keep the switch dry and ventilated, avoid network loops and test your addressing and links before the event. No cable kit, mounting hardware or router is promised as included.
Which hardware revision does the manual cover?
The linked TP-Link installation guide covers TL-SG105S/TL-SG108S V1. Check the hardware version on the supplied unit before following revision-specific LED or power details. The rental unit revision is not specified here.
