Overview

Connect a small wired network for an event, control desk or temporary workspace with eight auto-negotiating Ethernet ports. The TL-SG108S is an unmanaged Gigabit switch in a compact, fanless metal housing: connect suitable Ethernet cables and external power, with no switch configuration required. One connection to a router or another switch uses one of the eight ports, leaving seven for local devices. This is a non-PoE switch, not a router or Wi-Fi access point; it does not increase your internet subscription speed. Check the network requirements of the actual equipment before use.

Frequently asked questions

How many devices can I connect?
There are eight Ethernet ports in total. A link to a router or another switch takes one port, leaving seven for local devices. Without an uplink, up to eight devices can share a local network, provided their addressing and applications are configured appropriately.
Does this provide Wi-Fi or an internet connection?
No. It extends a wired Ethernet network. Internet access requires an existing router or gateway and a working internet service. The switch does not supply routing, Wi-Fi or a faster internet subscription.
Can it power an access point or camera over the network cable?
No. The TL-SG108S does not supply PoE. Use a suitable separate power supply or a compatible PoE injector or PoE switch when a device requires network-cable power.
What should I arrange before collection and setup?
Arrange a suitable external adapter, a mains outlet and one Ethernet cable for each connection. Adapter and cable inclusion in this rental has not been confirmed; check the agreed contents before collection. Avoid network loops and test the complete setup before your event.
Can I use it with DJ or AV equipment?
Only when the equipment supports the intended Ethernet network and its manufacturer requirements are met. A network socket alone does not guarantee compatibility. Check addressing, supported topology and any multicast or managed-switch requirements; test the exact combination in advance.
Why is a connection slower than 1 Gbit/s?
Each port negotiates with the connected device. A 100 Mbit/s device, unsuitable cable or damaged connector can limit the link. Check the cable and the device network interface. Gigabit port speed is not a guarantee of application throughput or internet speed.
